Two militants killed In Sopore gunfight: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, May 4 : Two militants were killed in an encounter with government forces at Nathipora area of north Kashmir’s Sopore on Tuesday, officials said.

The encounter had started after a joint team of police, CRPF and army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area after receiving specific information about the presence of the militants, sources said. 

“Two militant have been killed in Sopore gunfight,” Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar told KNS.

IGP had earlier said that a foreign militant, Hamas alias Asrar alias Saria was trapped at the site.

 He was “involved in killing of two councilors and a policeman during Militant attack on Mar 29, IGP said.(KNS)
