Consumers forced to pic up the unusable material
Banihal ,Nov 24: Consumers of Banihal are facing acute shortage of timber due to non -availability of fresh Timber at depots of social forest corporation SFC in Banihal.
Despite of sanctions consumers are being asked to pic up the old and rotten wood slippers which are lying at these different depots of Banihal and are unusable.
Local consumers said that despite of price of rupees 1800 per pine slipper, 3300 per kail, they are forced to pic up the rotten wood material.
They added that new goods are not being brought to the depot which is causing great inconvenience to the consumers.
Local consumers appealed to district administration specially to DDC Ramban to intervene in the matter to alleviate the plight of consumers and hold the department accountable.
They alleged that some influential and reputable were given the timber from different sources of the department in which a large number slippers have been seized so far after the public intervention, the confiscation has also been carried out while a number of issues are dealt with by mutual consent.
On the other hand, general consumers are worried about timber despite getting sanctions and their houses are open this season.
